 SALSA IN CAMBODIA

Those who have never been to Asia might connect Cambodia with Khmer Rouge, Pol Pot, Angkor Wat… ...but probably not with Salsa,  well here it is............... SALSA Phnom Penh

The Salsa scene in Phnom Penh has been growing steadily over the past 3 years.  Regular events have been happening around town with more and more people interested to learn this sexy dance.    Not only is Salsa a great dance its a great way to stay in shape, it's also a great way to meet people and have a great night out.  Salsa dancers tend to be friendly people who are willing to help those who are learning as they remember that they used to struggle themselves whilst learning.

If you want to learn how to dance check out our "Salsa classes" page or if you want to join us for the next Salsa event check out the Upcoming events.

If you know any Salsa or Latin activity going on in Phnom Penh – please let us know and we will advertise it here.

There are different regular and irregular classes happening in Phnom Penh.
(Please click on the menu item to find the class schedules)

Beginners Level 1:

This basic class usually takes 4-weeks, is designed to lay down a strong foundation, for students who are new to Salsa. Here, we build from the ground up, ensuring that students develop a sound understanding of timing, basic footwork and partnering technique. We provide a structured and progressive course in a fun environment.

At the end of this course, you will be able to understand the salsa music and dance short and simple routines.

Beginners Level 2

On completion of level 1, you will now know the basic rhythm and steps to salsa.

In this level 1, you will start by learning some simple basic turn patterns, that involves leading and following, with good emphasis on basic techniques. The main concept of this course, is to learn the Cross Body Turn, on how to lead and follow it, using both your hands and to the rhythm of the music.

Beginners Level 3:

Completion of Level 2 is a minimum requirement to enter this course or, an equivalent experience of Salsa Dancing. Having established a strong foundation from Levels 1 and 2, this course, is designed to continue reinforcing good leading and following techniques, whilst incorporating more footwork skills, and teaching you how to be light on your feet.

Advanced Level:

Completion of Level 3 is a minimum requirement to enter this course or, an equivalent experience of Salsa Dancing.
Students will be introduced to the concept of spinning in salsa and the techniques involved! You will become familiar with the more complex and challenging aspects of following in Salsa. Timing and good understanding of the music is still a recurring theme at this level and this will enable you to feel more confident and relaxed when following more complicated turn patterns.

What to wear?
It’s important to feel comfortable and be able to move easily, so avoid floor length skirts or restrictive clothes. The teacher wants to see your beautiful feet!
